FACTS ABOUT THE BABE RUTH / CAL RIPKEN TOURNAMENT PROGRAM
Fastest growing youth baseball program for many years. Our Post Season Tournament trail has encouraged us to offer Weekend tournament play. This will offer a more challenging environment for today's youth.
TEAM QUALIFICATIONS
• Midseason tournaments are in addition to regular season and all star play
• Participating teams can be league teams, combination of league teams, or
outside tournament teams
PLAYER QUALIFICATIONS
• Players can only be listed on one roster per age group.
• Player's eligibility is determined by his age on April 30th of any given year. Players can
play up an age division but cannot play down.
• Coaches must be able to present certified birth certificates or other governmental
documents that specify birth date upon request
• Player can only participate on one team per weekend.
. Each team will show proof of insurance or may secure through the Babe Ruth organization
TEAM CLASSIFICATIONS
1. Select Team
a. Teams that demonstrate a superior talent level. i.e. Batting Center teams
2. Challenge Team
a. Any team with players of advanced skill level
b. Any team that has one or more players not on a league roster would fall into this category. i.e. League All star teams
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Official Babe Ruth League Playing Rules
2. Tournament play runs year round, January 1 through December 31. Babe Ruth
insurance is good for one year.
3. Pool Play will be the format of the tournaments; pool advancement is based on
Win-Loss record, Head to Head, Fewest runs allowed
4. Players must have baseball attire with the same color numbered jersey
5. Mercy Rule for each game: 15 runs after three innings or 12 runs after 4 innings
or 8 runs after 5 innings
6. Coaches are allowed to wear coaches’ shorts
TOURNAMENT LOCATIONS
1. Three general areas to be designated as Host locations; for example, and for discussion
purposes only, Asheville, Hickory, and Charlotte could serve as Host locations
2. Locations need to be close to major cities with the highest density to attract
available teams
3. Locations need to geographically split WNC into three general areas to offer
maximum coverage
REGISTRATION
1. Entry for each tournament will be implemented through Team Entry form on the website
2. Payment can be made via a mailed check included with the entry form or through
PayPal.
3. Rosters for each team must be submitted with payment. If a team is paying by PayPal,
roster must be emailed to mid-season@wncbr.org prior to tournament play.
4. Proof of team insurance, roster and birth certificates must be presented at the field.
